As one of the most effective ways ofpublicity, television programs inevitably play a crucial role in cultural transmission, whichendows the translation of documentary Peking Opera with a far-reaching significance.With the characteristics of colloquialism, synchronization as well as instantaneity, subtitletranslation is different from common literary translation. Compared with other televisionprograms, documentary subtitle tends to be more formal. Therefore, subtitle translation ofdocumentaries should be distinguished from translation of television programs and generalprinted works.
