As an important part of literature, novel translations have been paid a lot ofattention. Compared with the other kinds of the literary works, the novel is featured asits obvious narrative form. Applying the narratology theory into the novel translationnot only can achieve the uniform between the form and content of the noveltranslation, but also can avoid deceptive equivalence, which is the requirement of thecombination of novel translation and narratology theory. Translation is aninterdisciplinary study, and it absorbs different theories from different subjects.Narratology theory is an important theory in literary criticism and it also providespotential study field for translation studies. Thus the combination of the narratologytheory and translation theory has become reasonable and necessary. This thesis applies the case study to conduct a qualitative study. Sun Zhili’sChinese version of Pride and Prejudice is selected as the research object. Thesentences or texts related to the narrative point of view, character’s speech, letter andcharacterization are selected and analyzed to make a comparison between the sourcetext and the target text. Through the comparison, the translation effect will be madeinto a qualitative analysis. And then the translation strategies of Sun Zhili in terms ofnarrative aspect will be analyzed. At last, a conclusion will be drawn that the conformity of the narrative featuresof the source text and target text determines the aesthetic values of the novel, whichachieves better interpretation and expression of the original style and the thememeaning of the works. When the translators translate the novels, they should considerthe narrative aspects of the novels. In other words, the translators need to know thenarrative background and narrative techniques of the source text clearly, and find themind state of the narrator in the source text. In addition, the character’s speech will betranslated correctly as well. And in the characterization, the style and form should bekept according to the source text at any time.
