Recent years, the psychology health issue of junior middle school student has been paid more attention to by many persons in our country. Because of the contradiction between high developing speed in physiology and laggard development in psychology, the middle school period is the transition period from young one to mature, and is also the period in which more confusion and obstacles appears easily. For the society, schools, teachers and parents, the early finding of potential psychological problems of students and thus early counseling intervention is a particularly important thing. The purpose of this paper is to identify potential psychological problems of student by using scientific, intuitive and simple methods, and also provide the basis of method in discovering students who has potential psychological problems.This paper choose684students of first-year junior high school in Pudong district of Shanghai as the research object, using the Mental Health Test (MHT), Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ) and Group Intelligence Test of Richang, Zheng. The data were processed with descriptive analysis, analysis of boxplot, linear regression and confidence interval analysis and multiple linear regression analysis. The result showed that boxplot is easy to operate, which has the practical application value; simple regression confidence interval graph can effectively screen out the student with psychological problems; multiple regression results show that neuroticism (N) dimensions have the impact on mental health (β=0.691, p<0.001).
