China’s "Vagrants Film" Research Since The New Century

Although some films possessing feature of "vagrants" existed in the last century,"Vagrants Film" is still a new concept. In21th century, there are more and more films that progressed some artistic characters in common. After "All the Way", the sprout of "Vagrants Film", films in this style have been growing richer and more colourful on subjects, techniques, themes and characters during the next decades.Chapter One sketches out "Vagrants Film" which introduces the definition and the generating discourse context. Chapter Two argues from the perspective of themes. It consists of physical and mental return, the vagrancy complex in "on the way", the insist on traditional Chinese culture of moderation as well as the critics and refelction of the modern society. Chapter Three analyzes the characters in "Vagrants Film": vagrant individual and community, redeemer and the person saved from a spiritual aspect. The last Chapter demonstrates the narrative features:narrative mode of "vagrancy on the way", narrative technique of mixing up comedy and tragedy, and narrative style of combination and openness.
