As a sort of TV series from foreign countries, legal drama has occupied an indispensable position and become one of the mainstream type series in the development of drama in today’s world. In China, the legal drama entered the Chinese audience vision as the Hong Kong TV series "File of Justice" series success gradually.Since then,Hong Kong’s legal drama has ushered rapid development and formed a mature creation mode.Though legal drama in China mainland has had certain development since the end of last century, it always failed to have a great progress and hasn’t been on a path to the typed creation. Both on the quantity and quality, legal drama in China mainland is in urgent need of reference to the Hong Kong and the other countries and regions in the world which have advantages on idea and technique in creation.At present,domestic theoretical circle is lack of systematic studies on legal drama.Most research articles just only have analysis on one single TV series. In view of this, this article will be a comparative study which regard both the Hong Kong and the mainland works as the research object, then concludes the legal drama’s paradigm.This paper will based on the main common characters firstly to define the concept of legal drama. And then will be taken from both legal generation context, the theme of the play, the character setting and shaping, narrative strategy to analyze the play mode of legal drama, and explore the differences and the reson cause the differences between Hong Kong and mainland’s legal drama and the shortage of mainland legal drama by the contrast research.In order to provide certain theoretical support for the development of legal drama.
