Jiang Guoji is a famous descendant of the Zhejiang bamboo flute music style, as the disciple of Master Zhao, he have performed numerous outstanding Zhe Jiang style repertoires and has contributed greatly in promoting this genre of bamboo flute music.《Barcarolle of the water village》 is a representative piece composed and performed by Jiang Guoji himself. This repertoire was composed during the Revolutionary period, it is a famous and well received piece till today, that is known and performed widely. the traditional performing techniques of Zhe Jiang bamboo flute music style is incorporated in this repertoire, alongside with the techniques of the Pan-flute. Jiang Guoji pushed the boundaries of the development of Zhe Jiang bamboo flute music with regards to a new performing music style by exploring both his influence and understanding towards Zhe Jiang folk music and Jiang Nan music style. In the two sections of this paper, the author analyses Jiang Guoji performing style and 《Barcarolle of the water village》. This provides a more in-depth understanding towards the history and development of Zhe Jiang bamboo flute music style.
