In this paper, learning portfolio assessment is applied for the one-to-one primary piano small-class teaching with an empirical measure according to the theoretical data. It aims to observe changes in a teacher and the students based on the learning portfolio assessment during the operation process, as well as the influence of the portfolio assessment on evaluators, so as to illustrate the application characteristics, advantages and limitations in the practical learning portfolio evaluation process.According to the characteristics of learning portfolio assessment, there are descriptions about the manufacturing of related rating-scale, furthermore, the experimental process, materials, feedbacks and results are revealed progressively through the time arrangements. Meanwhile, the changes of experimental subjects are traced and excavated in dynamic approaches for practical purposes, and combining the actual examples and conclusions, it proves that the application of learning portfolio assessment can indeed promote the cultivation of independent study habit, and inspire students’ potential of self-feedbacks and reflections, as well as the study atmosphere of cooperation between students and teachers. Furthermore, the dynamics, flexibilities, rules and purposes of the portfolio assessment are also reflected with practical examples.
