The Traditional Chinese Lexicon Studies For Words In Pi Ya

Pi Ya as the name of a book dedicated to explaining traditionalChinese lexicon in Song dynasty, epitomizes the transformation anddevelopment of Ya Xue, therefore, it occupies a very important positionand has significant influence in the history of explaining traditionalChinese lexicon and linguistics. Scholars and experts in the past dynastieshave paid great attention to study and research about Pi Ya since it cameout, but it has not been paid enough attention, so they had to stop theirstudy in this area. That is why it is really important for the research aboutthe explanations of words in ancient books of Pi Ya. It also has importanteffect on the conclusion of achievement about the explanations of wordsin ancient books and the reflection of Pi Ya’s value.The functions of Pi Ya can be reflected from its name. So it can beused to assist and increase the content of Er Ya and complete the systemof Ya Xue. According to the content which focuses on the explanationabout the names of animals and plants, it can be considered that thetendency of Ya Xue is transforming from the comprehensiveness to thetechnicality. Comparing with Er Ya, Pi Ya not only improved in thequantity of explanation words, but also those increased words are all thewords which explain things in detail and cite extensively content. In adegree, the contents and methods of the explanations of words in ancientbooks are more scientific and progressive. This thesis will study thewords of Pi Ya from the perspective of the explanations of words inancient books. It regards the names of things as the outline, and theexplanations of words in ancient books as the main material during theprocess of research. Besides, the author defines the relative definition,teasing system, and classifying examples basing on the practical bases.Therefore, the author can clear up and analyze Pi Ya and enrich the name information of animals and plants of Song dynasty.The main content of this paper includes the following sections:The first part is about the present research situation, researchmeaning and research methods of Pi Ya words.Second part is the presentation of Pi Ya’s righteous class schedulingstyle. Through the words classification of choreography, table of contentsin order of classification, and title meaning specified class other aspectsof systems analysis, and then it will show the classification ofchoreography layout features of Pi Ya.Third part is about the content of the Pi Ya, in order to highlight thevalue of explaining traditional Chinese lexicon, the author discussed fromseveral aspect like list of different names, explaining in detail and settingup comments.Fourth part based on the analysis of explaining traditional Chineselexicon words of Pi Ya, and then sum up the achievements andshortcomings. Especially the achievements in terms of interpretation ofthe meaning, justification explanation, revealing culture, and method ofexplaining traditional Chinese lexicon, all these are showed the value ofthe different content.
