Abstract: Art comes from life and is superior to life, five thousandyears of Chinese historic culture embraced its diverse art cultures with itsfar-ranging compatibility. It is no doubt that Chinese folk art has greatinfluence on modern art. The former was rooted in native soil and itssimplicity, purity and limitless artistic charm all constitute essential nutritionorigin of the development of modern art. Along with off-and-on developmentfor200years, the Chinese copper print, as a young life entity, has beengaining nutrition from the folk fine art. Paper cut is one essential part of folkfine art, and it was handed on from age to age with its boundless artisticcharm. The artistic elements and modeling of paper cut reflects politics,economy and culture in people’s life, and, in particular, people’s dream ofbeautiful life and future. Chinese people’s pursuit of good fortune andavoiding disasters often find full expressions in the metaphors of objects andimages in life. The vitality of modern print development will follow thedevelopment of native culture inevitably. With the exploration of aestheticand artistic creation of nationalization, the artistic elements and modeling ofpaper cut has been transformed into three-dimensional contouring moderncopper print in three colors: black, white and gray. It is not transformed interms of language, because that would lose its inherent feature. Therefore, theartistic creation of modern copper print should follow the laws of copper printand tries to gain more expansion in terms of its patterns of manifestation andconnotation. One difficult point in this paper lies in the to-the-pointtransformation from art to art.
