Chinese historical teleplays are created on the basis of China’s time-honored history and culture, and because of their diverse forms, Chinese historical teleplays attracted numerous audience’s attention.However at present, the historical teleplays are seriously homogenized, for their scenarios are substantially similar, and even worse, they tend to be fanciful and absurd in order to attract more viewers.As a result, they usually stray from the correct historical values.As a cultural product,the main function of Chinese historical teleplays is not only to entertain audiences,but also to educate and guide them to form a correct view of history and value.Hence,the most important service object of Chinese historical teleplays should be the audiences.As one of the methods to promote cultural prosperity,Chinese historical teleplays are supposed to be a demonstration.On the basis of the theory of "Uses and Gratification", the present study started from the demand of audiences, followed the line of "raise a question-analyze the question-solve the question", and applied methods of both questionnaire and in-depth interview to discuss the problems that exist in how the historical teleplays meet the demand of audiences.The results of the study suggested that:first and foremost,scriptwriter should act as a "gatekeeper"of cultural value of a teleplay; second, historical teleplays should obey the rule of "keep historical reality on the main events while not to stick to the trifles";third,hardcore scenarios should be decreased and add various contents of worth-viewing; forth, we can try to apply the mode of "write while shooting and broadcasting".The findings of the research aim at offering effective information for reference to the disseminators including designers, scriptwriter, teleplays producers and TV stations, etc., to help them make adjustments in time according to the feedback from audiences, so that they could produce more historical teleplays of high quality, set up the consciousness for the best,and provide both theoretical and practical reference to meet the demand of audiences.
