The Research Of The Generation Of Space Form Study In The Novel Text

For the study of novel, scholars have traditionally emphasized on theperspective of time. However, with the emergence of Post-classical Narratology,space of the novel gradually becoming important. This paper mainly focuses on thespace form among the thriving space studies. On this issue, there are two tendenciesin the present study. One is that some scholars，in the specific discussions,are stillnot particularly clear for the distinguish between "space" and " space form". Theother is that our study of space form is basically stuck in the following three aspects,proposed by an American scholar called Joseph Frank, which is the suspension theflow of time, the space context and the structure of juxtaposition, and their studiesare generally based on the whole structure of the text. This paper argues that, if wecould successfully combine some narrative skills, such as Narrative Voice, NarrativeFocus and Images, with the co-authoring between the author and the reader, we canalso form a kind of space form. This paper mainly focuses on the following aspects:In the preface, this paper makes a literature review on the previous studies ofspace problem. It is not difficult to find that some of these studies fragmented anddisordered. In addition, those studies put emphasized on the perspective of space,occasionally involves to the author and the reader. The first part is to distinguishbetween "space" and "space form" as well as some related concepts, to some extent,it is also a classification approach to the previous studies of space problem results.At the same time, this part defines the main object of this paper, which is the studyof the generation of space form. For the generation of space form, we choose theNarrative Voice, Narrative Focus and Images to discuss. The second part focuses onthe reasons for choosing these three elements. This not only because scholars wasn’tpaying enough attention to the author and the reader of space problem, but also weshould follow the reader centered concept in Rhetorical Narrative Theory. In thethird part, combined with the author and the reader, the paper begins to discuss thesethree elements of how to generate the space form in the novel text. Finally, the papersummaries the space form problem, and put forward the prospects for the future. We made a conclusion that although scholars have summed up some generation factors ofspace form, still exist to generate infinite possibilities.Considering those techniques commonly used in novels also have the possibilityof generating space form, and reader’s participation can also make the space form anew breeding area, which is the innovation of this paper. In addition, the paper putssome commonly used narrative skills, such as Narrative Voice, Narrative Focus andImages in the study of space form, breaking a previous shortcoming in the study thatfocuses on space form on the whole structure of the text. If we put the author andthe reader into the study of space form, it can makes the space form of novels withemotional colors, and produces a new meaning. It expands to a certain extent, thestudy area of space form. Due to the limitation of space and the ability of myself,this paper still have quite many shortcomings, such as the study of readers forreading, the field of re-creation and so on. What is more, the study of image is notdeep enough to a further learning and research.
