The archaeological digging ofthe Yinxu organized by the Institute of History andPhilology in Academia Sinica in1928had made remarkable achievement thatattracted worldwide attentions.It was the inchoation of the scientific archaeology inour state.But it also suffered continuously interference from those local forces whichrepresented by the National Museum of Henan Province at its early stage. Causes ofthis dispute were complicated, but the primary cause was the different academic idealsfrom these two groups of scholars.Thus, this paper aims to probe into the distinctionbetween the scientific archaeology and the traditional epigraphy through analyzingthose manifestations of these two academic groups in archaeological digging andartifact’s research realms.
