The Influence Of Anime Violence Characters On The Sociality Of Adolescents

Chinese anime has developed rapidly since the reform and opening policy. Meanwhile, theJapanese anime which filled with elements of violence, fighting, bloody shootings and death has enteredChina unstoppably. And violence has become an integral part of the anime.Paying little attention to the adolescents, most traditional researches on anime violence pickedchildren as their subjects. However, the data shows that adolescents are the main audience of anime, andthe adolescent who are fond of anime account for80%of the total amount. In order to enrich theresearches on the impact of anime violence on young people, and provide a new perspective, this studypicks the adolescent’s favorite anime as the research object, starts from the character features, which is thecontents of the anime, and discusses the impaction on adolescents taken by the specific contents of theviolent anime.This study adopt the different character features as experimental materials. Study1is analyzedwith a2(gender of subjects: male, female)×2(gender of characters in video: male, female)×3(age ofcharacters in video: the elderly, adolescents, primary school children) analysis of covariance, trying toidentify whether the different characteristics of the perpetrators in violent anime by a short-term exposurewould influence the cognition, emotion and behavior related to prosociality and aggression of theadolescents. Study2is also analyzed with a2(gender of subjects: male, female)×2(gender of characters invideo: male, female)×3(age of characters in video: the elderly, adolescents, primary school children)analysis of covariance, trying to identify whether the different characteristics of the victims in violentanime by a short-term exposure would influence the cognition, emotion and behavior related to prosociality and aggression of the adolescents. Both the studies are performed by the E-Prime.Consolidated results of the two experiments, the main conclusions obtained are as follows:Firstly, Perpetrators’ age characteristics have influence on the aggression of adolescentperformance, and when the perpetrators in the violent anime are primary school children, male subjectsinspired more aggressive behaviors compared with females by the violent animeSecondly, Perpetrators’ age characteristics influence on adolescent sociality performancecompared with primary school children, when the perpetrators are adolescents, subjects reported a moreaggression and prosociality of the subjects reduced.Thirdly, Victims have influence on the aggresson of adolescent performance compared with malesubjects, female subjects reported a more aggressive cognition, emotion and behavior when the victims areelderly.Fourthly, Victims’ age characteristics influence on adolescent sociality performance when thevictim is elderly, the aggression of the subjects are reduced, and the prosociality has increased.
