The Formation Mechanism Of The Myanmar Language Euphemism

Euphemism is a hot field in linguistic research and it is also an essential part of daily communication. Euphemism, to some extent, is the cognition of human being to the world and the conceptualization of the world in man’s mind. As a result, we may be able to discuss the Euphemism from the view of Cognitive Linguistic and Pragmatics. In the last few years, there is intensive research on Chinese and English Euphemism, however we can seldom find one on other languages. The first chapter of my article focus on pragmatic function of Euphemism, which helps us analyze the psychological bases of Myanmar Euphemism and influence from context on it. The second focus on mechanism of Myanmar Euphemism through Category and Prototype Theory, Semantics and other related theories. On one hand, we will discuss how to generate Myanmar Euphemism by prototype and category, metaphor and metonymy, speech, grammar and pragmatics; on the other hand, we will discuss if mechanism of Myanmar Euphemism is in line with cognitive rules. The third chapter through to the pragmatic functions of euphemism to explore, discover and Myanmar language euphemism in accordance with the relevant law of cognitive linguistics. This article to some extent improves proper application in daily communication by demonstration of the euphemism and reserved generative mechanism.
