Since ancient times, there are frequent contacts between China and South Korea. The Ming and Qing Dynasties of China has a particularly strong relationship with South Korea. Beijing, as the capital of the two Dynasties, has been the final destination of South Korea, so South Korean envoys had left a lot of description about Beijing in masterpiece "Chao Tian Lu" and "Yan Xing Lu". In modern times, although the international order has changed significantly, the communication has not been interrupted between China and South Korea. The story about Beijing still continues. After the Japanese military recaptured Korea, many Koreans choose Beijing as a fugitive. This is not only related with the history and reality of China and South Korea, but also associated with the particularity of Beijing area. After the failure of South Korea’s "3·1" movement, a large number of independent activists and patriotic students flooded into Beijing, as a result, the1920’s Beijing became one of overseas independent motion base with Shanghai side by side. With the Japanese imperialist invasion of Beijing region, the independence movement have evacuated, and most of the Korean leaving in Beijing with a strong attachment with Japan who lived in the cracks between China and Japan with difficulties and hardships, which undoubtedly deepened understanding of Korean colony.Beijing, as the Millennium Royal Park, leaving a large number of relics of feudal dynasties, especially that of the Ming and Qing dynasties. During the Japanese colonial occupation period, the Korean people left many Ji Xingwen about Beijing, in which in addition to expressing sympathy for the plight of fellow outside, they also carried out a large number of descriptions of the relics of Beijing area. These Dynasty relics had special significance for the Koreans whose country had subjugated because they are virtually served for the South Korean human speech said that the ages rise and fall and the pain of loss of expression vector. In modern times, the decline of Beijing’s international status as well as a world class rescheduling of all ethnic groups, China and Chinese people became South Korea’s new object of understanding. With China’s relative decline is the rise of the empire of Japan, who accepting the advanced western civilization had became the object of South Korea to follow. Beijing in the Modern Transformation was experiencing the new and old intense conflict between old and new, so Korean intellectuals’ view of Beijing is very complicated.Beijing magnificent ruins, the feeling of disdain, contempt and disgust for the poor, the sincere worship of Western civilization, etc. All these not only embody their intoxication to the splendid classical culture, the yearning for advanced modern Western civilization, but also reflect their understanding of the modern backward, poverty-stricken regions and their people. But Han Xueye, Zhu Yaoxie and other Korean modern scholars show different perspectives in the description of Beijing. They do not just indulge in the relics of feudal dynasty, from the perspective of human nature, they also see the Chinese who had created the magnificent achievements, as well as the people of the two countries who are in the same situation under the control of the colonial. They give deep sympathy to the two countries which are oppressed by the Japanese empire. The South Korean modern Ji Xingwen of Beijing contains Korean modern intellectuals’ nostalgia for the ancient capital of Beijing, the understanding of modern Beijing, the grief, despair and self-awareness for the loss of motherland, as well as the description of the people in Beijing, South Korea and Western. Their text also contains the pursuit of modern civilization as well as looking forward to and learning the new ideas and new culture of Beijing and other aspects. The object of this thesis is the South Korean modern intellectuals’ opinions about Beijing’s Ji Xingwen in1920~1940’s. By investigating the south Korean modern intellectual’s opinions about Beijing, and studying the ancient capital Beijing and modern Beijing to learn Chinese culture, modernization as well as the realistic of colonial motherland of Korea under the Japanese colonial rule.
