A Research On The Presence Of Local Themes In The Works Of Guilin Watercolorists

In an era in which globalization and urban culture become increasingly prominent, to promote local community and explore local culture is of great significance. In the field of painting, many artists begin to focus on the spirit of their own cultural traditions and spirit, and probe into local resources to seek the support for the basis of local culture. As watercolor painting develops rapidly in China today, the proportion of works with local themes is increasing in China. The local culture of Guilin has its own cultural essence which is profound and unique. Painters of Guilin watercolor painting prefer natural and cultural circumstances which they are familiar with. Guilin’s unique local features present its unique local color and ethnic customs, and gradually form a painting technique and expressive language of its own characteristics to create works of local features with a language which is quite personalized.In this paper, based on the watercolor paintings of Guilin’s local themes and starting from the beginning of this kind of painting, discovers the context and background of Guilin native arts of painting development. This paper studies the unique artistic qualities and artistic language of Guilin local watercolor paintings and discusses the aesthetic value and significance of the development of Guilin’s watercolor paintings based on theme of its own local features.This paper begins mainly from the perspective of analysis of works with a systematic study of watercolor painting of Guilin’s local features. This paper is divided into four chapters to achieve a comprehensive study and description of the origin and artistic style of Guilin local theme watercolor painting. The first chapter explains the core essence of local paintings from a diachronic angle to briefly describe the development of local watercolor painting domestic and abroad. The second chapter analyzes on the development blueprint of Guangxi art development and the unique cultural features of Guilin and explains the reasons for the development of local themes by Guilin watercolorist. From a synchronic perspective, the third chapter makes an analysis focusing on the diverse views of Guilin watercolorist and artistic and cultural essence presented in their works, which shows their unique and personalized art language features with local ethnic characteristics. The fourth chapter explains nationality, time and rich humanism caring from the perspective of aesthetic value and the significance of artistic development. Finally, this paper affirmed the positive role and significance of Guilin local watercolor painting in the development of the nationalization of watercolor painting in China and outlooks the trend of development of China’s watercolor painting and Guilin watercolor painting.Through research, this paper contributes a deep and all-round understanding of Guilin watercolor painting, which is of certain academic value and practical significance. Meanwhile, I also hope that more artists would pay attention to locality and reality and constantly contribute to enrichment and prosperity of watercolor painting.
