The study topic of the dissertation is "The Thinking of Development Course of Chinese Ancient Poetry Art Songs and Vocal Performance". Art Song is a musical form after "school songs" in early1920s. From early in the20th century, a group of musician and composer returned from studying abroad learned from western art song form, composed a large amount of "Chinese Art Songs" for ancient poetry and vernacular poetry."Ancient Poetry Art Songs" becomes preferred composing form by composer."Ancient Poetry Art Songs" have unique Chinese cultural connotation and aesthetic appreciation,"Harmoniously combination of poems and music","profound artistic conception" are the mental shackles pursued by composers.This dissertation outlined three stages of development course of "Ancient Poetry Art Song" since1920s. As for representative works of classical ancient poetry art song of each stage, the dissertation not only introduce the poetry, but also made a accurate, detailed and deeply analysis on the music, in order to sort out evolution process of style of creation and works. The dissertation clearly elaborated how to annotate correctly on ancient poetry art song of different period and style. In addition, the dissertation discussed that the aesthetic criteria of unique "rhythm"’rhyme" of Chinese Poetry and music which is different from Western. In order to make the vocal performance of "Chinese Ancient Poetry Art Song" have more "charm" of Chinese culture, the dissertation have the original view on the requirement of performer’s voice and enhancing comprehensive conservation. Finally, the dissertation gave prospect and imagination on the future teaching, creation and performance of "Ancient Poetry Art Songs".
