The Chinese are main force of the world’s immigration all the time.From the middle of19th century to the early20th century, the news of the gold’sdiscovery in Australia spread throughout the world, in addition, the situation was alsovery turbulent, so that large number of Chinese who lived in coastal areas moved toAustralia, to pursue their golden dream. At that time, the Chinese who moved toAustralia are mostly lived a hardships of life, they were not well educated. After theyarrived in Australia, most of them were work around the goldfield, and their jobs werealmostly about panning gold and growing vegetables. Because of the increasingly hugenumber of Chinese, the Australian society’s attitude had changed: from the initialwelcome, evolved into the rejection. The Chinese were contributing to the developmentof Australia through their hard work, especially in the terms of industry of growingvegetables, and they also make contributions to the states’ finance, however, theirefforts did not get the corresponding returns.The anti-china organizations were growing in Australian states, requiringgovernment make a legislative restrictions on the Chinese, and the violent attacksagainst Chinese in gold fields also occur repeatedly. The state governments of Australiabegan to come on a series of restrictions on Chinese immigration statute, in order totemper the whites’ rising anti-chinese sentiment. The Chinese life in Australia get intotrouble because of the appearance of anti-china organizations and a series of restrictionsmade by the government.The Chinese life were got into trouble, its for many reasons, and the main reasonsare: Australia’s growing sense of nationalism, the appearance of “Chinese competition”and the defamation to Chinese from the public opinions. Firstly, with the upsurge ofAustralia’s nationalism, the Australian thought that the other races are the lower existence than themselves, they thought they need to take any necessary measures toensure that Australia is not polluted by inferior race; secondly, the whites in Australiaaccused the Chinese use improper means to compete, and request the administrationlegislative intervention, as the result, the government promulgated specifically laws forthe Chinese in the furniture manufacturing industry. Thirdly, the Australian publicopinions also uglified the image of Chinese, they described the Chinese settlement as aplace which filled with dirty and crime. These series reasons made the life of Chinesewho lived in Australia become more and more serious, the result is the leaving of largenumber of Chinese in Australia.The Chinese in Australia are always in awkward situation, when they try to blendin Australian society, will always encounter many obstacles. Although the Chinese makegreat contribution in agriculture, especially in Vegetable and furniture indusry, Chinesein Australia still is not welcome for a long time.
