Professor Wang Jian Min is one of most influential Chinese contemporary composers today. He has produced a variety of works that feature diversity in theme, sophistication in construction as well as imaginative orchestration.Full of auditory impactful, he’s works have garnered the praise and attention of both music lovers and professionals alike. Professor Wang’s past works have traditionally favoured the usage of erhu and guzheng as the main platforms to express his musical intent.《China Capriccio No.1-OrientalImpressions》 ishis first bamboo flute concerto and it has captured a lot of attention and enjoyed wide-spread promotion ever since its first performance.Through learning and performing 《China Capriccio No.1-Orientallmpressions》, the author strongly believes that Professor Wang’s work is truly a contemporary bamboo flute masterpiece. The current research paper will carry out a detailedperformance art analysis into the piece’s background and creative characteristics. It will also incorporate teachings from Professor Tang Jun Qiao’sas well as the author’s own personal performance sentiment.
