The First Chamber Symphony of Schoenberg is the studying object of this article, which mainly analyses the characteristics of this composition’s tonality and genre. On the basis of these analyses, this article also explores the development tendency of the20th century’s regulation and taste in music. There are four chapters in this article. The first chapter introduces what contributed to this composition. The second chapter analyses how did Schoenberg explore the ultimate expression of tonal music with the characteristics of structure, tonality and harmony. And these characteristics are also the preparation for Schoenberg’s atonal music. The third chapter analyses how to make broader expression possible in the respect of genre in this composition. Based on the second and the third chapter, the last chapter explores the screw-type law of development in the process of regularization’s and fuzziness’s alternating with each other. Generally speaking, The First Chamber Symphony of Schoenberg reflects on the change of aesthetic orientation in the20th century.
