Giving birth to the era of the Tang Dynasty, a great poet Wang Wei can bedescribed as an excellent pastoral poetry. There are so many special images that allprevious dynasties researcher as if mostly vision focusing on them. This thesis intendsto analyze the images of Wang Wei’s poetry by the theory of "defamiliarization".This thesis is composed of four chapters. The introduction chapter covers thesignificance of this thesis, the life background of Wang Wei, research methodologyand the purpose of this study. Then the thesis reviews some basic literary theory of“defamiliarization” theory.By the theory of "defamiliarization" the thesis analyzes the images of Wang Wei’s pastoral poetry in order to study the aesthetic effect of "defamiliarization".Chapter two focus on the "defamiliarization" aesthetic effect of the poetryincluding the selection of the image, combine of the image defamiliarization and thequality of image defamiliarization.Chapter three analyzes the techniques of aesthetic effect of "defamiliarization"by Character Selection Skills and Loose Writing Skills.Chapter four is the conclusion of this thesis.
