From mid1980s to now, with the highly praise of western art market, sky-high pricedworks of Chinese contemporary art frequently occur. These works have entered into themass vision during transmission process. No matter whether artists want their works tohave an influence on the public or not, the works will inevitably affect the aestheticcognition and value judgment of the public during transmission process. This paperdiscusses the aesthetic cognition on visual schema by interpreting the mass culturepsychology, so as to learn the problems such as the distance between mass aestheticsand art creation as well as the realization of the social function of arts. The social valuesof artistic works can only exist based on the realization of social functions. This doesn’tmean that the artists are advocated to create works to cater to the mass’s taste; instead, the artists are expected to be not narcissistic in isolation from the mass; they aresupposed to carry out thought and creation on the basis of how to realize the artisticvalue and social value of the works and to give full play to the positive effects of visualart spirit in transmission process, so as to increase the aesthetic level of the mass andgive better play to the social functions of Chinese contemporary art, thus promoting thesound construction of the visual image system of Chinese culture. This paper carries out field research on the art groups in Chongqing and Yunnan etc.,and then it analyzes the “visual schema” of representative works of Chinesecontemporary art (oil paintings) on the basis of literature analysis and case study ofartists as well as market data. Secondly, the author investigates the samples of totally100persons in Chongqing, Shandong, Xinjiang and Jiangxi, etc. as the samples of themass to learn the art reception psychology of the mass. Finally, the author discusses the problems of how to realize the social functions of Chinese contemporary art, which canprovide reference for the sound construction of the visual image system of Chinesecontemporary art culture.
