This practice report is based on the author’s consecutive interpreting experience in the2013-2014Year-End Meeting of Tianjin Sage Education Group and the relevant interpretingtheories and skills. It analyses, discusses and summarizes this interpreting practicesystematically and makes explanation and revision to some of the problems.This report consists of three parts. The first part briefly introduces the backgroundinformation of the interpreting task and its practical value. The second part demonstrates thephases of the interpreting task including preparation, proceeding phase and reorganization. Inthis part, the author emphasizes the importance of coordinating listening and understanding ofthe source language, using short memory and taking notes and the ways to master this skill.The third part is the key part, the author lists some cases in the interpreting task and points outthe interpreting skills that have been successfully used and the mistakes that the author hasmade. The mistakes are explained and revised in this part. These mistakes mainly includerepetition of information, omission of important information and listening comprehensionbarriers. In the end, the author summarizes this interpreting experience.In the future years of English interpreting study, the author will put more efforts intolistening practice, getting familiar with various accents, enhancing the ability of taking noteswhile listening, and will keep enlarging the scope of knowledge in different fields, thus toimprove the interpreting quality. |
