The examiners have two types by the function in Ming Dynasty, the examinerwho train and monitor called outside the curtain. On the contrary, the examiner whohost and keep company with the exam called inside the curtain。The study focuses onthe triennial examiner and capital examiner inside the curtain, their duty on setting atheme and marking。The main body includes three parts. the first part, the historical change onapposition of the examiners, through to the collation of material, the conclusion is thetriennial examination chief examiners has developed from Confucian scholar to thegovernment officials in the capital of the country; the number of the collaborativeexaminers are increased。The second part, the influence on article style on the imperial examination, willreflect examiner’s duty; when the article style is attractive on the surface but of nosolid value, the examiner will guide it to be natural by grading standards, the record oftriennial examination and capital examination which is a connecting with examiners’remarks and model essay; it is a self-reference to the preparing for the imperialexamination。The third part is the relationship between examiners and examinees, at first, theconsideration and contradiction between the examiners and examinees inside theexamination room; then the relationship called prelate and disciple outside theexamination room, the port takes Li Dongyang and his disciples as example, toanalyze how to keep up the relationship. By building the prelate and disciplerelationship, so between examiners and candidates more closely.
