"Gothic" as a term from the Medieval Europe has an increasingly extensive meaning in the long historicaldevelopment, becoming now a unique artistic style of Medieval Revivalism. It represents the religious mystery, loneliness, brutality, darkness and nobility. The style has influenced various artisticforms, as in the movie of "Tim Burton", music of "Marilyn Manson", fiction story of "Allan Poe"and others. The "Gothic" culture has entered our lives and become an integral part of social culture."Gothic" as an artistic style couldprevail in modern society because it adapts to meet the cultural and spiritual needs of contemporary people who live in cities of skyscrapers with complicated social life, loss of self-survival value, confusion in emotion and depression as a way of life. When people crave only for money and power, life becomesfull of indifference, suspicion and jealousy other than human trust. The anxietyand angerare released in the artistic works as in the "Dizzy" painting series which express in "Gothic" spirit seekingthe lost love and trust. The "Gothic" expression in art form is exaggerated, absurd and bizarre so as to stimulate our thoughts of self-value. The creative process is to express the inner beauty of basic human innocence and artistically to explorethe aesthetic value of traditional art theory and idealism.I believe that the "Gothic" art essentially tells a beautiful fairy tale. It brings us away from the harsh realistic world to a wonderland of beauty. I hope that this artistic expression in paintings receives good public response.
