In recent years,the phenomenon of students’ academic procrastination has graduallybecome a hot topic to the researchers.Academic procrastination can make the student’sperformance lower,and consequent negative emotions will produce negative influence onstudent’s physical and mental health development.So far,most of the studies about academicprocrastination mainly aim at college students as the research object and pay too littleattention to the junior school students.At the same time,the research on the influence factorsof academic procrastination is limited to the single factor.Based on presenting the pastresearch venation and referencing the experience and research results of predecessors,thisstudy choose junior school students as the research object and investigate the generalcharacteristics of the academic procrastination.At the meantime to explore the way to effectacademic procrastination by two variables of academic self-efficacy and achievementmotivation.The study use the academic procrastination questionnaire of middle schoolstudents,the academic self-efficacy scale and the achievement motivation scale to conduct asurvey among288junior school students in Dalian.By the statistical analysis wih the data,theconclusions are as follows:(1)The behavior of junior school students’ academic procrastination is widespread,butthe extent is not serious.Both of the differences of the sex and the grade are significant,but theinteraction of them is not significant.The degree of academic procrastination in grade one issignificantly higher than it in grade two,but the degree in grade three is not significantlydifferent with the other two grades’.In sex dimension, boys’ degree is higher than the girls’.(2)There is significant negative correlation between academic self-efficacy and academicprocrastination as same as the relationship between achievement motivation and academicprocrastination.And there is significant positive correlation between academic self-efficacyand achievement motivation.(3)There are two ways of academic self-efficacy and achievement motivation toinfluence academic procrastination:academic self-efficacy can directltly and negativelypredict academic procrastination;in another way,academic self-efficacy can indirectly effectacademic procrastination through achievement motivation,and achievement motivation playsa role as a partial mediator factor in the relationship between academic self-efficacy andacademic procrastination.Finally,according to the research institute put forward to some educational advices aboutpreventing and reducing the academic procrastination of junior middle schoolstudents.Desiring to give junior school students assistance so that it can effectively decrease the extent of academic procrastination and promote the healthy development of physical andmental.
