With the analysis based on the guidance of sociology theory and fine arts theory, the paper endeavors to form a literature review on Guan Hui ring gong as an intangible cultural heritage, thus laying a solid foundation for further research on this topic.Second, the paper turns to explain the development shift from drum-dancing to drum-dragon through the study on the changes of the play form and the inherit subject on Guan Hui ring gong in Xiang City, Henan province. Rethinking from different angles and analysis on the forming and developing background for Guan Hui ring gong are combined with the development condition of intangible cultural heritage for the further inherit and protection of Guan Hui ring gong, which in turns researches on the protecting strategy of its successors and the attitude towards the intangible cultural heritage.Third, the paper specifically illustrates the musical research principles of Guan Hui ring gong with the method of combining its play form and particular cases. With the comparative approach, the binary analysis on its music, its principles and its rhyme is conducted between the natural edition and revised edition of Guan Hui ring gong, which enables people to clarify the features on its rhyme and its pace. This can also do people a favor to understand the representations of Guan Hui ring gong as an intangible cultural heritage.Finally, this paper works to establish the musical, historical and social value of Guan Hui ring gong by means of rethinking the value of its cultural inherit and protection, entitling people to realize that Guan Hui ring gong is a traditional folk art with the great influence brought by the officials and its own relatively high art value and science value. Meanwhile, standing at the point of the current danger and the rethinking of Guan Hui ring gong, the spot study and theory research are to be conducted in Xiang City. With the full interpretation on its various representations in folk culture, the deeper dig on its influence on the construction of the local tradition culture can be reached, which provides a new start for the intangible cultural heritage in Xiang City, even all through the state, thus contributing to the healthy and swift development on social culture.
