A Study Of Henanese Image In Chinese Film And Television Works Of The Last Ten Years

Nowadays, the attention and criticism of people from Henan province has turnedinto a social phenomenon. In film and television productions as well as literary andartistic works, characterizations of Henan people could be commonly found. Roleswith henan accent also leave deep impressions on audience. The audiences throughthese characters not only can find their own culture categories, but also understand thecultural features in this region. However you will observe that the image of Henanpeople are mostly negative.This thesis will start from the images of Henan people for the past decade,investigate the special features in different film and television works. Using the filmtheory, the study compares two kinds of film creators, different analysis of thisphenomenon and the causes. Finally, use sociology and imagology to analyze the realHenan figures, then expound the Henan figure transmission,“social prejudice”, and“other” image of the social basis.The first part mainly introduces current research of what mentioned above inrecent decade, as well as the research objective of this thesis and methods. From thepresent research situation, a majority of achievements are found in sociology andcommunication theory, but minority in the application of film theory and theories ofimage, this research. This Paper mainly adopts literature review and questionnaireand may more or less fills the blank.The second part analyzes and summarizes the Henan figures of Chinese film andtelevision works in the recent decade. Characterization of movie or TV drama has lotsof ways and mostly can be divided into internal and external parts. The internal imageincludes the character and mental state set, meanwhile, external image includesclothing, makeup and other means. This part would deeply approach to the specialshaping method for Henan people.Two types of film and television drama creators who shape the Henan people’s“other” image would be discussed in the third part. By comparing the creators ofnative and non-native film creators, people will understand the specific differences.Compare and analyze the reasons for the differences though viewing distance,frequency, identity and perspective, audiences′foresight and experience.The last part, extend the image in film and television works to the real life, and interpret the cause, then analyze the different factors of the formation.Communication of Henan image and impression on public, the “other” image wouldbe separately discussed in the social foundation nowadays, at the same time, effectivetheoretical support would be provided to rebuild Henan image.
