Field Study On Shuhua A Traditional Singing Form Of Hui Nationality In Ningxia

Shuhua, a traditional singing form of Hui Nationality, is quite popular in Ningxia. It inserts lyrics with cantus firmus, which starts and ends with the names and characteristics of flowers. It included calculated rhythm and chorus and duet, and mainly in the form of counting and singing with the supplement of instrumental performing and dancing, which speaks highly of the past and present.Shuhua is a wonderful singing form of Chinese national folk music. As one of the Ningxia Hui nationality’s most important singing forms, it has gone through trials and hardships of the times with continual innovation, and shows its strong vitality of the arts in the cultural change. In the long history of oral literature and the art of singing, Shuhua forms a unique art form, and becomes one of the most popular musical forms for both the Hui nationality and the Han nationality. Its rich performance styles and the remarkableness for both voice and expression have profound inspiration and reflection on modern national vocal music.This paper studies Shuhua in the way of filed research and takes all-round exploration including its concept, its beginning and development, the national property, etc. This study goes to explore the artistic characteristics of minority nationality vocal music on the basis of its history, singing innovation, heritage and conservation through interviewing and recording. With a deep discussion and analysis on Shuhua in Ningxia areas, profound thinking has been made.Shuhua carries Ningxia Hui people’s minds and spirits, their aesthetic and life and also shows the precious heritage of regional folk music and its unique culture. This is not only deep questioning about how the Hui people express, speak, appeal and pursue beauty, but also a summary of its temporary development and the expectations of the future. This study can promote the development of national folk music, its heritage and innovation, shows national folk music from multicultural perspectives and revitalizes the national musical culture.
