Liberty is always the spirit of the English culture. From the viewpoint of theincessant anti-aggression wars in British history, it is very clear to find the wholenation’s persistent pursuit of the liberty. The late Middle Ages were the period offeudal peak and decline. At that time, the underclass people suffered the cruelexploitation from the feudal landlord classes, being oppressed from the physical to thepsychological. In this case, the consciousness of the desire for liberty recovered, and itbecame much stronger just like a big fire. Finally, it finished the free transformationfrom dependence to independence.The underclass people contain most of the people in villages and cities. Theywere all the time the oppressed objects in the late Middle Ages. Both labor forces andmaterials were oppressed; their political and economic positions were very low; therewas no guarantee in life quality; and they had little education. Because of thesesufferings, and under the influence of the social context, economic development,church and dream of the free life, these people chose to fight for liberty. By violentand non-violent struggles, they wiped out all aspects of obstacles from government,society and the church. To some extent, the struggles made the freedom come true;meanwhile, they had a great influence on the politics, culture and economy of theEnglish society. In the infection of free atmosphere, England culture were diversifying;the development of public liberty promoted the rise of the House of Commons, whichplayed an important role in the alternating monarchy and church, and promoted theestablishment of constitutional monarchy; With the receiving of people liberty,England achieved great economic development, and its agricultural society turned toindustrial society, which laid the foundation for England to dominate the world.
