The Saint Of The Taoism Philosophy

Lao Zi pioneered the Taoist philosophy and the Tao is the foundation of it. ThenZhuang Zi inherited the Taoism philosophy from Lao Zi. He developed the Taoismphilosophy into a more mature philosophy. Now, many scholars pay attention to coreconcept in the Taoism philosophy. Like Tao, Wuwei and Qi. Less people talk aboutsaint in the Taoism philosophy. And more less people discussion about Taoism’s saint.This paper is devoted to discover the change of the Taoism’s saints wrote by Lao Ziand Zhuang Zi.First, we must understand what is saint. Saint is not such greatness at pre-qinperiod. It means clever. Saint has changed from pre-qin period to han dynasty. Insteadof clever, saints become more and more powerful, wise and moral.Saint wrote by Lao Zi is the basis of saint in Taoism philosophy. In Lao Zi’sopinion, saint is Tao. Saint not only for govern national, but also a model for everyone.Lao Zi wishes that saint can use Wuwei to stop the war. Then each person would havea happy life by imitate what saint do and say.Zhuang Zi is another important one in Taoism philosophy. He also inherited anddeveloped the point about saint from Lao Zi. Then he proposes a concept of Zhenren.Zhenren is different from normal human, but normal human can not find any different.Zhuang Zi also proposes Zhiren, immortal and saint. These three are different part ofZhenren. Zhuang Zi pays attention to the world instead of society by means ofZhenren.There are some different on saint between Lao Zi and Zhuang Zi. Saint isabstract in Lao Zi’s philosophy but specific in Zhuang Zi. Lao Zi don’t think normalperson can become a saint, but Zhuang Zi think so. From sage view, we can not findLao Zi is opposed to Confucianism. Also, Zhuang Zi didn’t attach importance toConfucianism. After all, the saint of Lao zi exists in the society. But the saint ofZhuang Zi exists in the own nature.Lao Zi and Zhuang Zi established the base of Taoism philosophy. They sageviews not only influence Taoism philosophy after them, but also affect Chinese wayof thinking. It is very important for study Taoism philosophy.
