Li Qun is one of the most important founder and pioneer of China’s new print. In1933, after graduating from art school in Hangzhou. Encouraged by Lu Xun, he began doing woodblock art invention. From the revolutionary struggle of creation about "left-wing cultural movement" theme, to the lively village folk themes about "Mao Zedong in Yanan literature and art talks speech", then to the lyrical, bird, landscape theme about "New China", Li Qun expressed his love of national loyalty with his own knife, And expected a better life for the people.Li Qun’s woodblock art has an important influence on the development of Chinese modern woodblock. during the youth times,artists were committed to the great cause of national liberation, Until the liberation, through rigorous laws of western style and profound attainments of Chinese painting, Actively exploring aesthetic style of woodcuts, had developed a unique personal charm, Effect and promotes the development of a new generation of Chinese woodblock prints.Li Qun created a large number of distinctive personal woodcut works with unique knife skills and ideas, His works referenced China and foreign countries; Valued tradition, portraited civil society; Interesting and feeling. On the composition, it had cleverly crafted, rich taste of China; In style, it both had the spirit of traditional Chinese painting and Western styling features of realistic painting; also authentic, ancient and lively, On the cuts,through, push-in, side, shake, knife skills, such as inverse variation, with the triangular cutters, flat-nosed, round-nosed, so that the screen-wood flavor is strong, the effect is rich; In color, through a simple chromatic summed up, it showed distinctive rhythm and rhyme.Li Qun’s woodcuts influenced a new generation of Chinese woodblock artists, and it had great artistic value and status of the art history in China. Li Qun’s woodblock print art had a long time, from in the1930of the20th century to30years after reform and opening up. From1933woodcut in black and white of the 《disease》 to2008for the creation of color woodblock prints of the creation of the 《spring》, spanning75years of time. Through an in-depth analysis of four different authoring groups over more than30classic works of the period,to discuss artists woodblock features and aesthetic features, so that in-depth study on connotation and aesthetic value works of art.
