Growing market economy, culture with the development of economy and science and more prosperous, the public aesthetic has become the mainstream of aesthetics. People in the character design has the choice between a paradoxical. On one hand, the public aesthetic is a kind of common values and aesthetic orientation, character design is minority demand; on the other hand, the public aesthetic fashion characteristic determines the people’s aesthetic taste, fast changing and unstable characteristics, and it encourages people to pursue fashion, novelty, personalized commodity individuality experience. This paper is to study the relations between the two, explore the development and their interaction.In the course of the study, the author find by hard and thorough search, to find the relationship between the two from the popular aesthetic and design features and development, and combining with the characteristics of the times, analyzes the relation of unity of opposites between the mass aesthetic and personality design, so that the personalized design of meaning, it is through his novel personalized design guide the popular, to guide the development of the public aesthetic and design itself. This is the character design rational orientation. This tells us, the development of design lies in continuous innovation, as a designer, a little to improve their own quality, grasp the requirements of the times, forge ahead, improve their design level.
