20th century,It’s known as the "century of literary criticism" byhumanities. With the exchange of humanities and social sciences andother disciplines, more and more deep about interdisciplinary research,literary anthropology has made a long-term development.The most distinguished scholars of Canadian humanities-NorthropFrye, Using a lot of knowledge of anthropology, history, psychology andother disciplines in its classic literary criticism creation process, Theinnovations interdisciplinary research, broaden their horizon of literarycriticism, thus, form a large cultural horizons. Fry analysis of a largenumber of specific works of literary writers and phenomenon, with "lookback" approach, forming a kind of general literature. With view ofgeneral literature, Frye has found the literary myth "archetype", sums upthe typical pattern of the developmental literary history. By summing upof the typical patterns, he has found the similarities between thedevelopmental literary history and the natural variation. This formationprocess of the thoughts are full of the cross of literary criticism andanthropological knowledge.Through the research about Frye’s literary anthropology formationprocess, not only we can have a richer understanding of the literary criticand literary criticism, but also enrich the literary anthropology knowledge.This paper draws on basic abroad and domestic researches about Fry,sorts out the interlinks between his literary criticism and anthropologicalpoint.Chapter1: Introduction. This chapter mainly introduces the originand form process of Frye’s literary anthropology thoughts, and theresearches about Frye at home and abroad. Frye’s literary anthropologythoughts are impacted by many literary critics, especially impacted bySpengler’s historical circulation theory and Fraser’s literary anthropology.Chapter2: General Theory, origin of Frye’s literary anthropologythought. Frye’s "archetype" theory integrate anthropology experience.Focus on the research of myth, rebuild the contacts which have beendivided, integrate the experience between literature and other disciplines.Chapter3: Imitative theory, deepen of Frye’s literary anthropology thought. Through the analysis of extensive fictions, he summarizes fiveimitation mode characters in tragedy and comedy of western literature.The relationship between literature and nature are raveled out.Chapter4: PeriodicTheory: formation of Frye’s literary anthropologythought. Frye’s thought that to some extent the narrative structure of Westernliterature is to mimic the natural seasonal circulation. The development ofhuman language is also a periodic structure which as a track to follow. Thisinnovative theory is exactly a concentrated expression of its anthropologicalknowledge and experience.Chapter5:Contributions and limitations of Frye’s literary anthropologythoughts. Frye forecasted the development of emerging discipline ofanthropology literature in an earlier time, and took an exploration in thisareas, laid the theoretical basis of this discipline. However, the excessivepursuit of structural and formal regularity of literature fell into dilemmaand the practice of the theroy in a specific text study also inappropriate.
