The moment a religious canon is born, the interpretation of it appears. This is exactlywhat has happened to Holy Bible the Canon of Christianity. The interpretation of thedoctrine and the translation of the text were monopolized by the Christian Church beforeReformation. Afterwards, people gradually realized that Holy Bible is not only the canon ofthe Christian Church but also a treasure of the whole people in the world for the historical, literary and other elements contained in Holy Bible. In recent years, the study of thetranslation of the Holy Bible has become more and more popular. The purpose of this thesis is to propose a new principle for Holy Bible metaphortranslation through the study of the four versions of the Holy Bible so that Chinese readerscan have a comprehensive understanding of the theological and cultural meaning of themetaphors in Holy Bible. What is more, the author thinks it will prevent the hazard of theheterodoxy from harming the rapid modernization construction of our society. In this thesis, conceptual metaphor theory is employed and through the introduction ofthe Holy Bible translation theory, the author has introduced three metaphor translationmethods for Holy Bible and then applied them in the analysis of the actual cases bycomparing these four versions of Holy Bible. Finally, through the analysis, the author comesup with the new translation principle of the metaphor translation in Holy Bible.Besides, the author has offered new interpretation of metaphor, conceptual metaphor, and cultural defaults and so on in order to make the illustrative cases more persuasive.
