Since the 20 th Century, the Western began to research the theory of collective memory and social memory. By the end of the 20 th Century.The concept of "cultural memory" has been put forward, The “cultural memory” has become a hot research object of the subject of science, sociology, anthropology, philosophy, culture and interdiscipline. Nowadays, in the face of the impact of modern culture and foreign culture, globalization and modernization are speeding ahead, which makes our national cultural memory and traditional cultural memory constantly encounter various of difficulties, cultural memory is facing to cultural amnesia. The cultural memory of the island of east china sea which we lived is also in an embarrassing and awkward situation. Because of the special geographical location, The island of east china sea has a very important position in China’s territorial and political. Research the problem of culture memory’s recovery and reconstruction on the island of east china sea is not only to protect a foundation of a regional culture, enrich the culture connotation of our great family of nation, but also makes it as a soft strength of cultural heritage fully influence our country’s political economic and culture.This paper starts from the theory and the practice of cultural memory, and put forward the understanding and interpretation to the cultural memory of East China Sea Islands. First, the paper profiles the protection of cultural memory in East China Sea Islands with the mainland coastline culture, the cultural relics of "Maritime Silk Road", Eastern Zhejiang Coast immigrant culture, which shows that the East China Sea Islands culture’s a long and brilliant history. Then the paper says that island culture had been brilliant, but there are many issues that must be resolved, and analyses the causes of these cultural amnesia. Faced with these phenomena of cultural amnesia, we must fully understand that it’s important to recover and reconstruct the cultural memory of the East China Sea islands, and propose feasible countermeasures and suggestions making the sea cultural memory inherited and protected. Finally based on the cultural consciousness, this paper reaffirms the importance of protecting the cultural memory in the East China Sea. The recovery and reconstruction can not only fill the lack of East China Sea Islands cultural studies, but also bring strong support to the whole of East China Sea’s economic development, political stability, cultural prosperity.
