The material of this translation report is chosen from the English original Intercultural Communication in the book Culture and Language Use. The contents of the article Intercultural Communication include language and culture, the emergence of the research field of intercultural communication, the concept of culture, loci of culture-in-communication, methodological(sub) discourse of the field, and so on.Studying on intercultural communication from pragmatic perspectives contributes to helping people understand and use language correctly, so that intercultural communication failure can be avoided, and intercultural communication is able to carry out successfully. Therefore, the research in this field is of great practical significance.According to this English--Chinese translation practice, the translator makes this report from the following aspects: the description of the translation task, the process of translating, case analysis and the summary of the translation practice.The first part presents the background of the original text from the source of translation material and the introduction of the source text. The second part analyzes the translation process from the preparing of the translation, the correcting, reviewing and improving of the translation. After that, the translation draft is finalized. In the third part, the case analysis, the author mainly analyses the difficulties encountered in the process of translating, including the difficulties in morphology, syntax and culture. The fourth part concludes translation practice. The translator summarizes translation experience and feelings.In the process of translating, the translator mainly combines literal translation with free translation so as to express the meaning of the original text faithfully and smoothly. Through this translation practice, the translator’s ability is improved, and the translator becomes increasingly interested in translation.
