With an increasing number of researches on teaching assessment in China, DA and relevant theories have come into the view of teachers and educators. Dynamic Assessment, as a kind of interactive evaluation in the study of education, stems from the famous psychologist Vygotsky’s Sociocultural Theory of Mind. It aims to observe and evaluate students’ progress and change in learning so as to improve their learning outcome.Therefore, based on Vygotsky’s Sociocultural Theory of Mind, this thesis tends to study the effects of dynamic assessment on college English students’ writing. Forty non-English majors participated in the experiment which lasted for 16 weeks. Test, questionnaire were also employed to collect data in the study. The results reveal that dynamic assessment is effective in improving college students’ writing ability. Besides, via interview and questionnaire it also finds that students hold positive attitudes towards DA-based writing methods and that DA can stimulate students’ writing awareness, improve their motivation. Finally, this study concludes with the major findings, pedagogical implications for the further study.
