For more than 30 years reform and opening up in Chinese politica l, economic,cultural and other social undertakings have made remarkabl e achievements.The same is true in moral construction.Nowadays,ou r moral consciousness of mainstream is positive and upward,however,in s ome areas, there are a variety of moral anomie,moral decay,or even c rime and so on.ZhuXi’s view of reason and desire is an important component of Chinese traditional moral thought resources.It is neces sary to research it by the way of dialectical materialism and histori cal materialism,interdisciplinary research methods and so on.The for mation of ZhuXi’s view of reason and desire is not the product of ZhuXi’s subjective assume,and it is influenced by the background o f the economic,social and political era in that time.Before ZhuXi,ma ny thinkers have made their own understanding on the concept of “desire” and “renson”.ZhuXi inherits and develops them,especially lea rns from Confucius and Mencius,Taoism and Buddhism,Cheng Broth ers.On the base of it,he establishes his own view of reason and des ire creatively.In the main content of ZhuXi’s view of reason and de sire,firstly,the “reason” is given more rich of ethics implications, it can serve as “heavenly principles”, and “ethic”, and “human truth”,run through people’s daily livehood; secondly, the “desire” mainly contains unreasonable desires that “which are covered by interest” a nd “heart of disease illness”, not including those reasonable desires;thirdly, ZhuXi establishes a perfect moral system, which contains hu manity base,game relationship between reason and desire, value app eal about desires extinguishing,moral self-cultivation about study the nature of things and keep ambitio. Descendants have made their histo rical evaluation on it.Yan and Lee and others,who have made the n egative evaluation of “murder by reason”; Zhu Xi’s disciples and hòu scholars have made the positive evaluation of “continence by reas on”,and as Chen Qian,Gu Yanwu and others have made the dialecti cal evaluation of “unite of reason and desire”.ZhuXi’s View of reas on and desire is an important component of Chinese traditional mor al values.It combines with contemporary economic, political, cultural,social and other fields of some non-ethical phenomena shows that ZhuXi’s view of reason and desire has contemporary value for cont emporary people’s moral state,moral character,society’s moral order,and so on.
