Stereotype threat refers that when stigmatized groups in a situation that would confirm in-group’s negative stereotype, one concern that his poor performance would reinforce in-group’s negative stereotype, at the same time he would concern that other out-group members would evaluate him through the lens of in-group’s negative stereotype, so he may feel a sense of threat. The negative effects aroused by the effect on high school girls’mathematics learning have been proved obviously. Consequently, the research on the effect of stereotype threat on high school girls and the measures has always been the focus and hot topics in this field. This research has conducted from the perspectives of the prevention and intervention of stereotype threat, and tried to identify the effect of gender traits and Positive stereotypes in the control of stereotype threat. The experiment has included 92 high school girls and divided the participants into high and low group which characterized by masculine traits and feminine traits respectively according to Li Meizhi’s Chinese version of gender traits scale. And it attempts to examine the degree of stereotype threat on their level of working memory by the means of Task 2-back classic experimental paradigm. In the first experiment, it has controlled experimenters’gender (the male in experimental group VS the female in control group) and read various materials (neutral materials VS negative stereotypes materials. And it has launched the participants’ stereotype threat successfully by the experimental design of 2(threat condition group VS no threat condition group) x2 (masculine traits:high VS low). The result has showed that the working memory of participant in stereotype threat was significantly lower than that of non-threat, which also proved that mathematical gender stereotype has widely existed in high school girls. And the performance of the participant with high masculine traits in threat was better than that of low masculine traits, which has proved the resist effect of masculine to stereotype threat. In the second experiment, by presenting different reading materials and applied the experimental design of 2(materials:neutral materials VS positive stereotype materials) x2(high feminine traits VS low feminine traits), it has transmitted positive stereotype to participant in group B and conducted effective intervention on stereotype threat. The result has showed that group B has performed better than A both in letters 2-back and numbers 2-back, and the positive stereotype has effective intervention on stereotype threat. However, it does not find that feminine traits have promotive effect on intervention.
