Comparative Research On The Political Poetry And Political Attitude Of Li Shangyin And Du Mu

As superb poets of the late Tang Dynasty,Li Shangyin and Du Mu are all enthusiastic about politics,leaving a lot of excellent political poets.Although Du Mu was ten years older than Li Shangyin, they shared a similar social background that the Tang Danasty was increasingly driven to the last ditch,providing the same actual soil for their poetry writing which revolves around social problems such as the eunuch’s monopoly,Military governorship and Niu-Li factional Struggles. As responsible intellectuals,they had similar political attitudes,opposing the eunuch’s monopoly,abhorring military governorship and firmly unifying the country.But savouring their poetry carefully,you cannot ignore such a phenomena,there are some difference between them on the expression of specific attitude.The paper will classify the peoms of Li Shangyin and Du Mu according to subjects of the eunuch’s monopoly,Military governorship and Niu-Li factional Struggles,then dissect the differences of their political attitude and its cause.This thesis is divided into four parts as below:The first part discusses the peoms of Li Shangyin and Du Mu against eunuch, around their poems connecting with Liufen’s failing in imperal examination and Ganlu coup, explores their differences on to the way of expressing and political concerns.The second part discusses the peoms of Li Shangyin and Du Mu connecting with Military governorship, finds that they have similar political views in the maintenance of national unity, and the poems of Li Shangyin have a strong thought and the poems of Du Mu have a strong sense of political participation.The third part discusses the poems of Li Shangyin and Du Mu on Niu-Li factional Struggles, then traces the general outline of their political career and Niu-Li factional Struggles, not only seeing the influence of Niu-Li factional Struggles on their political career, but also finding their political personality.The fourth part focuses on the reasons for difference attitude of two political, from the there aspects of political talent,political resources and political personality.
