| Yi Munyol, called national author in Korea, is an influential writer in modern Korean literature. He has worked on writing for more than 30 years with a great number of works, who is popular with readers and is praised by critics. After reading his works, we can find that some opinions and contents from his novels are similar to the main ideas of Confucianism and Taoism. Study on works of Yi Munyol mainly focuses on his feature of language, topic selection, narrative point of view and aesthetic value, but less on the Chinese culture elements of his works.Therefore, this essay, based on Chinese traditional Confucianism, taking To Emperor and Redpoll as object, dug out the inner relationship between his works and Chinese cultural Confucianism after close reading.The first chapter of essay is introduction for research significance, current state and research methods. And the second chapter mainly introduces Yi Munyol and his main works and analyzes the cognitional attitude towards Chinese culture of Yi Munyol with his personal experience and content of his novels. Then, the third chapter analyzes To Emperor the representative satirical novel from the perspective of Confucianism and Taoism. This paper tends to demonstrate the influence of Chinese culture from the aspects of the plot, characters and their fates. Moreover, the fourth chapter focuses on Redpoll a fiction about artistes.This novel contains not only about Chinese Confucian idea of Bi-de and the Taoist dialectics, but also the allusions of Chinese famous calligraphers. And the fifth chapter concludes Chinese cultural function and meaning of these two novels, as Chinese cultural element injects rich Chinese spirit to his works, which acts as his secret weapon to enrich Chinese characteristics. Yi Munyol created literature works in Korean by writing and transferred real meaning of Chinese culture. His novels are previous works combing Chinese culture with that of Korea, which is of literary style. |
