Sanliwan Village(三里湾)is one of Zhao Shuli’s long narrative fictions.Scholars have more studied on the civil and political ideology of the novel due to the author’s identity of a peasant writer and times of its creation background,while ignoring the re-interpretation under the cross-culture interpreted context of Sanliwan Village.This paper applies the western narrative theory,combined with the methods of detailed text reading,literature survey and cross-culture research and so on,which explored the narrative mode of Sanliwan Village and focused on the analysis of the narrative perspective,narrative time and narrative structure and deeply explored the internal connection between the western narrative theory and the narrative mode of Sanliwan Village.In order to further highlight the particularity in the narrative mode of Sanliwan Village,which compared with Zhao Shuli’s other novels.This paper includes three parts. In the introduction, it briefly introduced the narrative theory and made a clear analysis of narration and narrative, while combing the research status of Sanliwan Village at home and abroad. It also analyzed the research significance of narrative mode studies on Sanliwan Village.Body part is divided into three chapters. The first chapter analysis Sanliwan Village from the omniscient and omnipotent narrative perspective, and compared with Zhao Shuli’s other novels. It consists of three sections. First, it’s the omniscient narrator style, which is the most prominent feature of Zhao Shuli’s novels. Second, it’s the narrator who remains neutral and the narrator hides behind the novel as an outsider to analysis Sanliwan Village. Third, it’s the objective narrative as a third person. The narrative mode is from the person perspective to research Sanliwan Village. The second chapter is “peculiar narrative time”. The major way to analysis Sanliwan Village is from the traditional coherent narrative, the unique intermittent insertion and the urgency staggered narrative speed. This chapter is also compared with Zhao Shuli’s other novels. The third chapter is “rich and varied narrative structure”. It includes three sections. The structure of the context for story is the first section which is based on the stories in Zhao Shuli’s novels including Sanliwan Village. The structure of binary opposition is the second section which is about "villain" and "upright official" opposition. In setting up the character, Sanliwan Village and the other novels of Zhao Shuli are all inherited the traditional China "villain —— honest and upright official" literary narrative mode. The structure in the third section is a happy ending plot which is another notable feature of Zhao Shuli’s novels. It’s a consistent ending mode which appeared in Chinese traditional narrative literature as well.The conclusion part is the full text summary. Through the analysis of the narrative structure in Sanliwan Village, we know that Zhao Shuli not only inherited the tradition of Chinese narrative literature, but also innovated it. The narrative mode happens to coincide with the western narrative theory.
