A Research Report On The Translation Of Five-Minute Mysteries

The translation of foreign detective fictions has played a considerable role in the history of Chinese literature. Even to this day, the detective fictions are still one of the best sellers among novels, and based upon those original resources a lot of movies and TV series are developed. The detective fictions feature close-knitted plot, successive emergence of thrills and doubts and rigorous logic reasoning, which overwhelm the hearts of the readers. In order to satisfy the readers as well as introduce the western language culture, this paper selects four passages from Five-Minute Mysteries. Through analysis of the original text language and comparison with currently existing translated work, this paper attempts to present the language styles and features from the original text in the Chinese translated text, and meanwhile summarizes the features and translation techniques of the works of the same kind.
