The baroque period plays an important role in the history of western music. In this period, the types and forms of instrumental music developed rapidly. As a typical manifestation with rich and powerful expressive force during baroque period, Italian concerto made a great number of composers devote themselves entirely to it. One of the most representative is G.Philipp Telemann. At that time, with the development of the instrumental industry, the baroque trumpet became more and more popular. Then it became a solo instrument for the first time in the music history because of its gorgeous timbre and expressive sound quality. This concerto in D major fully displayed the typical traits of the early baroque music. Up to now, it has become the prerequisite music of various contests. In this thesis, I first gave reference to the background and composition summary of this concerto. On this basis, I tried to analyze on musical form, harmony, melody, orchestrate, etc. using musicological methods. By analyzing these aspects of this concerto, we could summarize the characteristic of "mixed style". Then I studied it in detail on the basis of Telemann’s ideology and experience. In addition to the theoretical exploration of this work, this thesis tries to refer to the traits of modern trumpet to analyze the performance method, which would integrate the theory with practice. Finally, I hope this study will serve for reality in some ways, and it can provide reference to everyone who loves and performs this work.
