People pay more attention to film visual research in recent years, with the development and in-depth of visual rhetorical research. However, comparing to the rapid development of film art, film visual rhetoric theory is lagging behind. It’s relatively few to refer to material of movie visual research. What’s more, the study of film visual research is narrower, smaller and not deep enough. Because it belongs to the frontier research. It has so many questions to probe, such as the theoretical foundation of film visual research, the characteristics of visual rhetoric elements, the way to achieve aesthetic implication and their relationships. The article is divided into four parts in order to make a bold attempt and innovative research.The introduction mainly analyzes the research status of film and points out some problems. On this basis, this article probes into the theoretical significance of film visual rhetoric and puts the development of prospects forward.The first chapter explores the theoretical background of the film visual rhetoric. Film visual rhetoric is based on linguistics. With the study of image rhetoric, visual rhetoric is started and expands gradually. In addition, it provides an opportunity to study film visual rhetoric.The second chapter analyzes the basic elements of film visual rhetoric from the micro aspects, such as image, sound and montage. Starting from concrete examples and combining film aesthetics and rhetoric imaging theory, this chapter studies the features of these elements and explores the way to achieve artistic effects.The third chapter explains South Korean director Ti-duk Kim’s films. It aims to study the rhetoric strategies to achieve artistic and aesthetic from macro aspects. It’s preferable to grasp the visual rhetoric elements and consider social characteristics, in-cluding the public’s aesthetic needs.That is to say, it’s better to adapt the context.The fourth chapter expounds film visual rhetoric combined with consumer times, ethical entertainment and ethics. It pointed out that the film visual rhetoric should follow the ideal of art theory to achieve the charm of movies. It is not appropriate to pursuit commercial interests and cater for the public excessively.
