This paper adopts the research orientation of Sociology of news production, uses the participatory observation and in-depth interviews and other qualitative research methods, penetrates into the internal of television production and investment company, and selects a TV of S company from A Province as a case from the micro level through the description of S’s TV drama production and daily production practice to reveal the complex process of TV production. The author is trying to show the source of the selected topic of TV, what the theme and content is, how and why chooses the theme, how topics become the story and how the story becomes a picture presented in front of the audience such as these’ specific’ problems in order to carry out an intensive study of TV production hidden behind discourse rules.After an intensive description of the TV drama production institutions, the author brings Bourdieu’s’field’ concept into TV production research to analyze control forces and influenced factors of TV drama in the production process, and mode of the effect acted on the production of TV series. In the present context in China, political power is the fundamental restrained force of TV production, while the economic power is the most direct influenced factor. In addition to the two dominant rules, TV production is deeply influenced by industry implicit rules. The two rules and the interaction between them constitute the tensile production field of the TV drama.
