OuYang Yuqian’s Contribution To The Chinese Dance

This paper is aimed at discussing OuYang YuQian’s outstanding contribution in Chinese dance history. The research is based on the study of Ancient Chinese Dance History and the development of Chinese Classical Dance. Through digging into the constructive ideas, QuYang YuQian proposed under certain historical conditions, conclusions regarding to OuYang’s profound influence on the development of Chinese Dance could be drawn.This thesis consists of three chapters. Chapter one is an introduction of how the master OuYang YuQian changed his focus from Dance Drama to Modern Chinese Dance. Chapter two is stating three aspects, which OuYang applied in instructing the research of Ancient Dance History. Those three aspects are Historical Reasons, Research Methods and Theoretical Results Publication. Chapter three emphasizes the theories OuYang proposed to build Chinese Classical Dance, how OuYang put those theories into practice and their influence on further generations.OuYangYuQian’s pioneering contributions to the development of Chinese Dance can be seen from the followings:he established new China’s first professional dance ensemble, composed new China’s first large scale dance drama Dove of Peace, built up a system to train new China’s first batch of dance talents and unprecedentedly led the research of Chinese Ancient Dance History.
