Comparative Study On Confucianism And Taoism View Of Life And Death In The Pre-qin

Everyone would like to think about his or her own life in the long river of life. It is about three questions, where are from, where to go, and what is the meaning of life. It also constitutes the fundamental problem of philosophy. In fact, this view in the end is about the view of life and death. The view as an important part of the outlook on life, is to discuss the problem about people’s life and death. Everyone from born to death, during which experienced by all the happiness, anger and sadness reflect the people’s basic point of view and attitude to life and death. The Chinese nation has a long history of more than five thousand years, and has accumulated the rich and colorful heritage of traditional culture, therefore, the nation has its uniqueness and richness on the attitude of life and death. During the spring and autumn period and the warring states period, the time of hundreds of schools of thought contend is the important stage in the development of Chinese traditional culture, of which the pre-qin Confucianism and Taoism has carried on the rational thinking about the view of life and death which is an important issue in life from their own different perspectives and angles, thus formed the different characteristics of life and death wisdom. With their rich theoretical content, profound thought connotation, and unique insights, the pre-qin Confucianism and Taoism have made a great contribution to China, even the world’s cultural treasures on life and death. To some extent, we can say that it is of great significance to understand the whole thoughts of Confucianism and Taoism, and even the whole Chinese civilization. Meanwhile, it also can provide rich thought resources and intellectual wealth for solving the modern people’s problem about the confusion of life and death.In this paper, comparative study on Confucianism and Taoism view of life and death in the pre-qin, it has taken the following research thought. This paper’s main content is divided into three chapters. At first, in the first chapter of the article, the theory origin and background of the concept of life and death has been discussed. It is to grasp the causes of the theory from two aspects, and make clear the starting points of view of life and death which the pre-qin Confucianism and Taoism have. In the second chapter, from the angle of the ideological content, the paper analyses in four aspects of systematic comb, such as the life origin, life process, life value, and life realm, tries to grasp the two ideas’theme, and make their ideas and views on life and death to be able to show clearly. In the system research on the view of Confucianism and Taoism, at the same time, the paper considers about the similarities and differences of the two from the overall understanding, in order to have more accurate and objective understanding on it. In the third chapter, the paper firstly points out the view’s theoretical defects and historical limitations. Restricted by social environment and recognition condition at that time, on the basis of the profundity of theory, the view of Confucianism and Taoist has their respective one-sidedness. Secondly, the paper analyses the real implications of the view in the modern society. When it comes to the reality, more and more people have created mental confusion and perplexity to life and death as a result of constantly accelerate the pace of life in modern society. The fragility of life, the fears of death, mental pressure, no root of life, and the unconscious state have put pressure on the modern people and brought them certain problems. For this reason, how to pick up the nation’s traditional classics, which make the modern applicability of view to play and let more people grasp on the deeper cognition of life and the awareness of death, becomes the important subject to be solved.On the basis of the literature and monographs, this paper has made the comparison study of specific content through the view on life and death of the pre-qin Confucianism and Taoism, in order to make scientific summary and construction about the view. It aims to explore its guiding significance to Chinese traditional philosophy and values, and inspire people to make a deep thinking about a series of vital problems on life and death that the modern society is facing.
