Qin Dynasty scholars originally formalized the significant study of Confucian thought, which remains the focus of current academics and researchers. While these studies are important they cannot be solely constrained to the traditional areas of Confucius’ doctrine: of the mean thought, Confucianism, benevolence thought and so on, more research and analysis must be directed to the study of Confucian "righteousness". “Righteousness” was linked to personal identity and status in this “Spring and Autumn” period and refers primarily to an individual’s moral behavior.Confucian "righteousness" in reality, reflected prevailing social thought and reasonable transformation based on contemporary Confucian criticism. While his thinking elaborated on his own comprehensive "righteousness" thought, it also reflects the distinctive characteristics of the times, as noted in "The Analects of Confucius". The Analects referred to a simple life of basic meals, just drinking water, a bent arm for a pillow and happiness and conversely to injustice and the transitory nature of riches and wealth expressed as “floating clouds to me.” These characteristics form the basis of "righteousness" thought.Confucian teachings on virtue provide a detailed explanation and relate and analyze. How ever, righteousness is one of the important of Confucius even though he rarely mention it. These standards should be the gentleman’s goal in life. To be a gentleman necessitates doing justice, expressed as "a gentleman’s righteous thought quality”. To be truly just a gentleman should behave according to ritual and humility, the real person being an honest person. The inherent characteristics of a gentleman are external behavior as a ceremony, the culture of nobility, a humble attitude, integrity and keeping one’s word. Justice is not the only essential gentleman’s characteristic but must also include an official’s compliance with the rules. The official’s behavior is of utmost importance requiring courtesy to the people, adherence to the law and moderate behavior. In addition to Confucius’ “righteousness” reflect in his benefit righteousness outside the standard of judging things. Mencius’ “righteousness” is mainly embody in the aspect of man’s thought and behavior, such as:”benevolence, heart of the man; righteousness, road of the man”.(<Mencius·The philosopher Gao>)This article as the times of Confucius background, explained the reasons for Confucius, and combined with Confucius "benevolence", "ethics", "benefit", "propriety", though Confucius "virtue" "moral", "Lee Yi", "propriety" thought, "meaning" thought to be a comprehensive overview.
